Action First Aid is proud to announce the launch of a free-standing outdoor SaveStation tower with an automated external defibrillator (AED) at Guardian Craighurst Pharmacy in Oro-Medonte.
This publicly accessible SaveStation was donated by Georgian Communities, a proud partner of Craighurst.
The centralized location was chosen for its high visibility and ease of access. It was selected in collaboration with the township, as well as the building and pharmacy owners, Brad and Rhonda Bochek.
Georgian Communities is also planning the upcoming development of Craighurst Crossing within the nearby area.
Craighurst Crossing is planned to be a community brimming with small-town charm, neighbourly kindness, and historic character. Rich in history and surrounded by rolling green pastures and lush woodlands, simply the best of rural life, with daily necessities within walking distance, and urban conveniences found minutes away.
Georgian Communities is designing a “thoughtful collection of modern farmhouse-style homes that will be distinctive and timeless. A place for families to reconnect, get in touch with the land, cultivate a better state of being and enjoy the simple pleasures of home.” There are also plans to include another life-saving SaveStation within the community’s primary parkland area.
The Craighurst Pharmacy SaveStation placement is one of several SaveStations already located within the Township of Oro-Medonte and Mayor Harry Hughes commented that, “The installation of an additional SaveStation tower with life-saving AED technology in the township continues to assist with our goal of keeping the Oro-Medonte community safe. Thank you to Guardian Craighurst Pharmacy and Georgian Communities for your support, time and effort, with placement of the SaveStation tower in a high-traffic and visible location. Oro-Medonte council thanks all those, both past and present, who continue to work to increase the availability of AEDs throughout our community.”
The Stryker CR2 AED inside the tower is equipped with a compact, battery-operated SaveStation AIVIA GO monitoring device. This provides 24/7 monitoring of the AED status, ensuring it is ‘ready for rescue.’ It also includes location services with GPS tracking, and hands-free, two-way communication with emergency services.
The SaveStation tower lights up at night and is clearly marked for public use. The cabinet keeps the AED warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This technology has been around in Europe for over 10 years now, and SaveStation is proudly bringing this life-saving equipment to North America.
