New AED Tower Enhances Public Safety at Ayala Park

An automated external defibrillator (AED) donated by the Chino Valley Fire Foundation was unveiled on Nov. 23 at Ayala Park.

Chino Valley Firefighter and Paramedic Phil Vasquez said the AED tower was formerly located at the snack station but moved to a more accessible location near the restrooms.

Mr. Vasquez said the defibrillator is “designed to be used by a fourth grader with no training” but a QR code on the tower can be used to find an instructional video.

The Chino Valley Fire Foundation has donated 60 defibrillators to the city through the Heart Safe program that began in 2017. Fire Chief David Williams said 48 lives have been saved since the start of the program.
