On World Restart a Heart Day, the Town of Exmore was one of two municipalities on the Eastern Shore of Virginia to be selected to receive a lifesaving station (the 2nd town was Chincoteague Island). Our Zoning Administrator Taylor Dukes supervised the placement of Exmore’s SaveStation Tower, presented by the international SaveStation team. It is located in a high-visibility spot on Main Street, just outside the north entrance to the Exmore Town Hall, 3305 Main Street. There’s a bench for sitting, and the tower, which is in full view of passing traffic, houses life-saving Stryker Emergency Care CR2 AEDs.
Exmore and Chincoteague Island are part of the largest outdoor SaveStation deployment to date, The Eastern Shore Health District, with support from the Virginia Department of Health, is in the process of installing a total of 23 SaveStations in public spaces throughout the counties of Accomack and North Hampton. These 24/7 accessible SaveStations are being placed in parks, schools, athletic fields, marinas, and other places where people congregate outdoors! Exmore is proud to in the vanguard of this lifesaving effort.
