Play For Jake Foundation donates SaveStation to Plaza 618

LaPorte, INDIANA: The Play For Jake Foundation is donating Northwest Indiana’s first outdoor SaveStation to Plaza 618 in LaPorte, Indiana.

“We are thrilled to bring this life-saving device to such a central location in our community,” said Julie West, founder of the Play For Jake Foundation. “This SaveStation will make Downtown LaPorte safer every single day but especially during the many special events that bring large crowds to our area.”

The free-standing tower unit will create public access to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a portable device used to address medical emergencies like Sudden Cardiac Arrest. When combined with CPR, the use of an AED can increase the likelihood of survival by 75% or more for sudden cardiac arrest victims.

The AED is being donated by Bolt for the Heart, a non-profit that has donated over 3,000 AEDs in Indiana since its inception and a long-time partner of the Play For Jake Foundation.
