100% Committed to Saving Lives From Sudden Cardiac Arrest
Project 100 is a non-profit organization in Washington State dedicated to increasing survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). They are comprised of volunteer medical professionals and other community leaders from the UW Medicine Center for Sports Cardiology, Nick of Time Foundation, DP Foundation, Medic One Foundation, King County Public Health, and Resuscitation Academy.
Dr. Jonathan Drezner from the UW Medicine Centre for Sports Cardiology is a highly respected authority on sudden cardiac arrest in athletes, and a member of Project 100. He has this to say about the collaboration between SaveStation and Project 100:
I am excited to partner with SaveStation in our shared mission for public access to AEDs at our outdoor sporting facilities. SaveStation provides a highly visible cabinet with security and climate-control features that are perfect for outdoor placement. Sudden cardiac arrest is a survivable event with prompt access to an AED. Project 100 aims to equip our outdoor play-fields with these life-saving devices.
Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in young athletes. For youth 18 years of age and younger, sports-related sudden cardiac arrest accounts for almost 40% of all SCAs(1). It can happen at any time and when it strikes, every second matters. For every minute that defibrillation is delayed, the chance of survival decreases by 10%.
Immediate use of an AED combined with CPR can increase survival rates by 75% or more, yet AEDs are often not publicly accessible. Through their SaveStation placements, Project 100 is already increasing the accessibility of AEDs within the sports and recreation community!
SaveStation Supports Project 100
Project 100 has partnered with SaveStation to place climate-controlled and fully monitored Wall Mounted AED cabinets and free standing Towers at their chosen outdoor locations at sports fields across Washington State. This allows them to make AEDs easily recognizable and accessible to the public 24/7, furthering their goal of empowering people to start defibrillation within the first 100 seconds.(2)

Northshore Athletic Fields
This collaboration was launched with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Northshore Athletic Fields in Woodinville, WA on July 23, 2024. With guest speakers, and a CPR & AED demonstration, Project 100 celebrated their inaugural SaveStation placement!
Mary and Tom Taft, parents of then 13 year old cardiac arrest survivor Nina Taft, passionately shared their family’s story that illustrates how access to an AED housed inside of a 24/7 accessible SaveStation Tower at a sports complex saved their daughter’s life:
Our daughter Nina suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at age 13 while playing soccer. If it wasn’t for quick access to the AED that was available at the sports complex where she was playing, she would not be here today. We will be forever grateful that this life-saving device was available that day and we will always support the work that Project 100 is doing to make all athletic fields safe in our community.

North Bothell Little League started the ball rolling by agreeing to partner with Project 100 to place a Wall Mounted SaveStation and life-saving AED to protect the visitors of the Northshore Athletic Fields. The fields play host to many other Little League and Youth Baseball & Softball associations from all over Western Washington. Now, with this SaveStation conveniently located at the concession stand, teams and attendees have 24/7 access to an AED year round.
The model they chose for this location is wall mounted, climate-controlled, monitored and lights up at night to be easily recognizable. With all of these features, the Defibtech Lifeline View defibrillator inside has the best chance of being ready for rescue when it is needed the most!
This is just the beginning of our journey with Project 100! We are excited about our future work together, which includes placing more AEDs at public sports and recreation facilities and educating the community about the importance of these life-saving devices.
