Healthy Petaluma District and Foundation is continuing its effort to build a HeartSafe Sonoma County by expanding public access to AEDs and strengthening CPR education throughout the region.

The organization recently announced that its Healthy Petaluma AED Registry has reached 500 managed devices across Sonoma and Marin counties, helping ensure life-saving equipment is accessible, functional, and ready for use during cardiac emergencies.

As an authorized SaveStation AED Cabinet distributor, Healthy Petaluma has installed publicly accessible AEDs at locations including Leghorns Park, Petaluma Community Sports Complex, and Shollenberger Park.

“When a cardiac emergency strikes, a person’s chance of recovery depends almost entirely on what happens in the first few minutes.”

In addition to maintaining the AED registry, the organization partners with HealthQuest CPR to provide Hands-Only CPR and AED training to residents, schools, and businesses. A key initiative includes CPR education for 7th grade students, helping expand emergency preparedness into local households.

The program also addresses disparities in cardiac emergency response by incorporating female manikins into CPR training, helping reduce hesitation when assisting women experiencing cardiac arrest.

“We aren’t just talking about heart health; we’re building the infrastructure to protect it.”

Healthy Petaluma says its HeartSafe Community initiative focuses on strengthening the full “Chain of Survival” through public education, expanded 24/7 AED access, and coordinated emergency preparedness efforts.
