New SaveStations Across Petaluma

To increase the chances of an AED being available when and where it’s needed – which really comes down to distributing them far and wide – Healthy Petaluma has been expanding its “HeartSafe Community Program,” resulting in the installation of several new AED stations in Petaluma.

The first of these so-called SaveStations was installed last year at Leghorns Park. But that wasn’t the last: With help from city staff and the Petaluma Fire Department, AED-containing SaveStations are now also set up at the Petaluma Sports Complex off East Washington Street, the Petaluma High School track, the Petaluma Golf and Country Club and, most recently, at Lucchesi Park’s Miracle League field.

“Four of these are managed under Healthy Petaluma’s HeartSafe Community Program,” said Melinda Hepp, who does outreach for the district. Petaluma High’s SaveStation, she said, “was donated by another organization, Just1Mike.”

Just1Mike Foundation – started by a Sonoma couple whose 16-year-old son died of cardiac arrest at Sonoma Valley High School in 2016 – installed its first AED station at the same school, resulting in a boy’s life being saved in 2022. Several more have been installed since then around Sonoma Valley.
