The City of Richland and Richland Fire & Emergency Services are expanding public access to life-saving equipment with the installation of a seventh outdoor AED SaveStation at Badger Mountain Community Park.
The new SaveStation is located near the park’s central amenities area, providing quick access for visitors, sports participants, walkers, and families using one of the city’s busiest recreational spaces.
“Having AEDs readily available in our parks and public spaces can make the difference between life and death during a cardiac emergency.”
— Randy Aust, Fire Chief, Richland Fire & Emergency Services
The climate-controlled station provides 24/7 access to an automated external defibrillator and includes GPS monitoring, an alarm system, and step-by-step voice and visual instructions to assist bystanders during emergencies.
The installation supports the HeartSafe Richland initiative, which focuses on public education, Hands-Only CPR training, and expanded AED accessibility throughout the community.
With the addition of the Badger Mountain Community Park unit, Richland now has seven public SaveStations located throughout its parks and trail systems.
“This SaveStation helps ensure that residents and visitors have access to life-saving equipment when and where it is needed most.”
— Randy Aust
Other SaveStation locations include Howard Amon Park, Columbia Point Marina Park, Horn Rapids, Badger Mountain Trailhead, The Top of Badger Mountain, and Columbia Playfield.
