A new public access AED SaveStation has officially been installed at Harrison Park in Owen Sound, providing 24/7 access to life-saving equipment in one of the city’s busiest recreation areas.
The SaveStation was donated by the Tyson Downs Foundation (TDBeAT) with support from the Owen Sound Attack and is located on the north wall of the Harrison Park Inn.
“If there’s a cardiac emergency, call 911, start CPR, and send someone to retrieve an AED. These three steps can make all the difference.”
— Deb Hennig, President, Action First Aid / SaveStation
The installation honours the legacy of Tyson Downs, whose sudden passing inspired family and friends to promote CPR education, AED awareness, and public access to life-saving equipment.
Through its TDBeAT program, the Tyson Downs Foundation provides free CPR and AED awareness training for youth aged 16 to 21, helping prepare the next generation to respond confidently during emergencies.
“You don’t need to be the best, you just need to give your best.”
— Tyson Downs
City officials praised the project for improving community safety while expanding awareness of cardiac emergency response. The climate-controlled SaveStation cabinet is monitored around the clock and designed for reliable access in all weather conditions.
